¶ Difference between Standard Installation & Flush Installation
Using the appliance, Miele DGC 7880 X, as an example:
For the Standard (Proud) Installation, this appliance requests a 28 1/2" wide x 24" height opening, which means we will need to provide a 30" wide cabinet. The appliance door panel width is 29 13/16", so when they install this appliance in the 30" wide cabinet, there will be an approximate 1/16" gap on both sides for the appliance, which is closely matching our cabinet door reveal. Also, this appliance has a door thickness of 15/16", while our slab cabinet door thickness is approximately 7/8" (including the 3/4" door and 1/8" bumper space). With standard installation, the appliance door will only protrude about 1/16" beyond the other cabinet doors, making it visually flush with the cabinet door.
For the Inset Flush Installation, this appliance requests a 30" wide x 24 1/2" height opening, along with additional fillers inside the cabinet to create the frame for this installation. For this setup, we will need to provide a 31 1/2" wide cabinet. Since the appliance door panel width is only 29 13/16", there will be approximately a 13/16" gap on both sides of this appliance.
Please note that the Flush Inset Installation is typically intended for a framed or inset cabinet. Since we offer a frameless European-style cabinet, using the standard installation with these high-end European appliances will provide the best installation results.
¶ Example of the Appliance that can NOT be install Flush to the cabinet door:
Using the appliance, Thermador MD24BS, as an example:
For the Standard Installation, the appliance door thickness is 1-11/16", while our slab cabinet door thickness is approximately 7/8" (including the 3/4" door and 1/8" bumper space). With standard installation, the appliance door will protrude about 13/16" beyond the cabinet doors and can NOT be installed flush.
For the Flush Installation, the requested appliance cutout depth is 23-½", the appliance overall depth is 23-3/8". In this case, the Appliance will be installed flued with the cabinet body side panel, not the cabinet door. This appliance is NOT able to install flush with the cabinet door.
